Manager (Project Management and Development Planning) (PR0207/20-21)

The University is seeking a dynamic, focused professional in the built environment to join the Estates Office.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates (Project Management and Development Planning), the appointee plays a key role in carrying out project management and space planning duties for the implementation of the University’s capital projects and alteration, addition and improvement works, exploring strategic campus development opportunities and formulating conceptual master plan to support the academic growth of the University. He/She, representing the Estates Office, will liaise with end-user departments, government departments, statutory bodies, consultants and other outside bodies on the matters relating to project execution and campus planning and development. Travelling to mainland China may be required from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Estates and the Assistant Director of Estates (Project Management and Development Planning) to carry out project management duties for execution of capital and non-capital works contracts for the University and to formulate conceptual master plan for campus development;
  • Liaise with end-user departments to understand their spatial needs for project delivery;
  • Carry out space planning and feasibility studies for development or alteration;
  • Take part in design presentation preparation including drawings, rendering and data visualisation as well as in the production of working drawing, specifications, tender documents and other project-control documents for in-house campus projects.

Requirements:

  • Possess a master’s degree in Architectural studies or a related discipline with at least eight years of post-qualification relevant work experience;
  • Should be a full member of HKIA or equivalent, with Authorized Person qualification being an advantage;
  • Possess strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese and proficiency in computer applications, including AutoCAD, Photoshop and SketchUp, with Revit being an advantage; and
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic and changing environment and a service-orientated mindset and positive manner to communicate with others.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test. Applicants with less work experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Manager (Project Management and Development Planning).

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
