System Analyst (Data Analytics) (PR0164/20-21)
This is a new position for Application and Integration Services Section in the Office of Information Technology. Reporting to the Data Analytics Manager, the appointee will be an in-house expert in Data Analytics and Visualization to ensure the data analytics systems and tools fully support business processes and needs, and assist in the implementation.
Design and analyse data by collaborating closely with a range of stakeholders including the architecture team, business users (both academic and administrative), and third-party data providers;
Implement data warehouse system according to the established data quality standards and data governance mechanism;
Perform analysis on large/diverse datasets by using various data analytics tools and techniques to identify opportunities for operational improvement such as data gathering and reporting;
Leverage data analytics and BI/Data Visualization tools to translate the data into business-driven insights to facilitate better and/or faster decision making;
Perform data mining and analysis to identify new business opportunities and insights;
Support database integration and data mapping activities;
Develop customized dashboard system for management reporting;
Collaborate with CRM, and ERP teams with data owners to ensure comprehensive data platform design, work arrangement on data gathering and reporting are properly aligned; and
Any other IT projects and assignments as directed.
A Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related discipline;
At least 5 years’ work experience in data analytics, data modeling, and database design and administration;
Hands-on development experience using Java, Stored Procedures, PL/SQL, and Linux/Unix shell script;
Knowledge of QlikSense, Tableau, PowerBI, and/or statistical package such as SAS, Alteryx an advantage;
Implementation experience in modern data architecture, micro-services, and/or traditional DW/ETL design;
Knowledge of and experience in data management & governance best practice, methods and frameworks;
Strong interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external resources; and
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be a self-starter with strong decision-making skills and ability to work under pressure.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of 2 years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
