Founded in 1968, the School of Communication comprises the Academy of Film, Department of Communication Studies and Department of Journalism, offering 20 programmes at the sub-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate levels to 2,000 students. As a leading school of communication, journalism, and film studies in the Asia-Pacific region, its faculty members work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary academic environment that entails collaboration across multiple fields of study. The School now invites applicants to fill the following positions:
Department of Journalism
Associate Professor of Practice / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer (PR0074/20-21)
We are looking for outstanding professionals in the media industry with expertise in (i) media law and ethics, (ii) business and financial news reporting or (iii) digital journalism to join our dedicated team of academic and teaching staff.
The appointees are expected to:
(a) engage principally in teaching and mentoring students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and
(b) play an active role in guiding and inspiring students in experiential learning, applying professional knowledge in designing the curriculum and ensuring the School’s course offerings are kept abreast of industry developments.
at least seven years of relevant working experience;
strong professional skills and expertise acquired through industry practice; and
high professional standing in their respective fields, as shown by their leadership positions, exemplary innovations, industry awards and portfolios of acclaimed works.
While higher academic qualifications are desirable, the candidates will primarily be appointed on the basis of their:
passion for teaching; and
ability to demonstrate the latest industrial application of knowledge and technology in the media industry.
Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, professional standing and level of experience.
