The School of Communication of HKBU is a leading school of communication, journalism, and film studies in the Asia-Pacific region. It comprises the Academy of Film, Department of Communication Studies and Department of Journalism, offering 20 programmes at sub-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate levels to circa 2,400 students. The dynamic academic environment entails Faculty members’ interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple fields of study. Academy of Film
Film Studies - Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (PR0101/19-20)
The Academy is seeking scholars who can teach a range of subjects covering film theory and criticism, history of cinema, digital media and television while having an excellent track record in teaching, research and publication.
Potential candidates should:
hold a PhD degree in relevant fields;
demonstrate the expertise in national and transnational cinema studies;
preferably have a focus on aspects of global cinema studies, and/or East Asian/Southeast Asian film and media studies;
have experience in curriculum design and postgraduate supervision; and
demonstrate potentials for academic leadership (applicable to Professor/Associate Professor ranks).
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
