Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant (PR101/17-18)
The appointee(s) is expected to assist the Project Investigator's (PI) in the project of art historical and archaeological study. Job duties include, but are not limited to, analysing the mechanical properties of silk fibers; 3D scanning of artifacts; conducting experiments of silk fiber preservation and/or tea making; taking photographic, video, and 3D modelling records; developing biochemical or chemical materials to protect ancient silk textiles; and other duties as assigned by PI. Travels may be required.
Applicants should possess a related Bachelor's degree or a higher degree (Master and PhD degree holders are also welcome) in one of the following areas: art history, history, molecular biology, or biochemistry, preferably with some experience in both laboratory work and art historical research. They should be able to demonstrate their biochemical knowledge and possess experience of 3D scanning.
Initial appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of one to two years commencing November 2017 or as soon as possible. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
